LOGLINE

In the final year of their high school lives, four young women struggle to break free from the constraints of a Catholic school and life in general. But as they rebel, the Virgin Mary appears to one of them, changing their lives forever.

WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

CATHOLIC SCHOOL GIRLS features Krizia, Marian, Agatha, and Kaya as they fight against the restricting standards of a Catholic institution and the prejudices thrown against

women. Their friendship is bonded by the fact that they are considered outcasts by the rest of the school, but each of them has a journey worth following.

Coming from a heartbreaking first serious relationship, Krizia explores her sexual liberation by engaging in hook ups. Burdened by her family’s financial problems, Agatha latches on further to her abusive long-time boyfriend.

Marian is an outright lesbian pressured by her mother, a has-been singer, to be straight and lose some body weight. Meanwhile, Kaya, the “most normal” of them all, the straight-A student who is adored by the nuns and hated by the other girls because of her overeagerness, struggles to confront her sexuality as a lesbian.

As these four women journey through their young lives individually and as friends, one jaw-dropping event happens when the Virgin Mary appears to Kaya and proclaims her as her modern prophet. Just as they rebel against the restrictions of their Catholic life, they are pulled back into the walls of religion because of this phenomenon.

What will Kaya and her three friends do when they are given the responsibility to heal right at a time when their concerns are their sexuality, relationships, social media presence, and most of all, love? if Sex and the City and Jane the Virgin had a baby, this would be this show.
